WWII era German K98 Mauser Bayonet with matching scabbard. The bayonet is marked E.u.F. Hörster on the left/rear side of the blade. The back of the blade is marked "40" for the year of manufacture. The right side of the blade is marked "2022" with an "h" below it. The scabbard has the corrosponding "2022" serial number on it. The leather "Belt Frog" has a very faint stamping on the back side. It appears to be marked "LLG" on top in large letters with a smaller font word underneath that appears to start with the letter "S" and end in either "ch", "oh" or "on. It's very faint due to the location, age and wear of the leather.
Blade length: 9-7/8", Overall Length: approx 15-1/8"
Overall condition is good for the age and use. It does have wear, imperfections and discoloration in the metal. The blade tip is slightly is dinged with a very small bend in the very end of the tip. The grip panels are in decent shape but show wear and handling marks. The latch moves freely and appears to be fully functional. The scabbard shows wear in the finish as well as patina (rust). The leather belt frog has a lot of wear but is intact.
